Balavikas of Fairfax is a voluntary organization established over 30 years ago by Dr. G. V .V. Rao, with the motto of "Find God, that is the only purpose in Life."  BalaVikas of Fairfax has been instrumental in preserving the cultural values in children as well as the grown ups in the Washington D.C metropolitan area.

Balavikas strives to introduce the young Indians to the rich traditions of mother India, by imparting cultural values, instilling moral discipline, and teaching fundamentals of Hindu religion and instilling respect for other religions.

Sunday School Activities

The Sunday School program at The Balavikas is designed to provide our children an opportunity to learn many facets of our religion and culture.

The classes are held on Sundays. 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Dr. Rao's residence 10321 Commonwealth Blvd, Fairfax, VA, 22032 Tel: 703 425 7866.

Curriculum

The curriculum includes instructional material for beginners and also programs for more advanced students, which include Hindu Religion and History of India . Children learn Slokams, Bhajans, and Stories.   The special feature of these classes is that they are conducted as a dialog between the teacher and students, thus empowering and encouraging children to become partners rather than have a teacher --  taught relationship.

How to signup for the classes

At Balavikas we don't insist on any kind of formal registration, and all children  are welcome to attend our classes along with their parents any time. What we ask on joining us is your email address and telephone number to facilitate communicating with you regarding the events.  

Q. Is there any start date for these classes?
No, you can make a beginning on any Sunday.

Q. Is there any Fee for registration and participation? No.

Q. Is there any age limit for children?
We had always mix of age groups, from 3 years to High school level children, and as a policy we don't have any age restrictions.
